    We believe that the key to progress of the Afghan people is literacy. Children must develop a love of reading and books, so that they will want to become fully literate. This will prepare them for success in the rest of school, at work and as citizens. Even female students who eventually stay in the home and raise their own children will be better mothers because they can read to their own children and encourage them to attend school and learn all they can.

  • Dream Big

    In the fall of 2012, the Academy decided to incorporate the Vision of DREAM BIG into the school. Students in classes 2-5 were asked to write a paragraph on their BIG DREAM. They wrote some amazing dreams. Here are a few of the dreams as written by the students -- in Pashto as they wrote them and as translated into English..

Gandahara Educational Academy’s mission to to provide the highest quality preschool and primary education and its Vision is to encourage all of its students to DREAM BIG.

At Gandahara Education Academy, it is our goal to become an organization where:

  • children receive education of the highest quality 
  • teachers are encouraged to use teaching methods that give recognition for achievement rather than sanctions for lack of success
  • children learn skills to understand and follow the guidelines of Quran and Sunnah (teachings) of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)
  • children learn English as their second language
  • children have the opportunity to learn in a safe environment
  • children feel happy to come to school to learn
  • children learn the skills to become future leaders
  • teachers are provided with education to improve their knowledge and teaching skills

Dream Big Initiative

In the fall of 2012, the Academy decided to incorporate the Vision of DREAM BIG into the school.

We have started the DREAM BIG initiative to encourage our students to express their dreams. The students are asked to write down their ambitions and future plans. We talk about their dreams and plans for the future during our classes.

Students in classes 2-5 were asked to write a paragraph on their BIG DREAM. They wrote some amazing dreams. Here are a few of the dreams as written by the students — in Pashto as they wrote them and as translated into English.

We will work on showing the students the steps that they need to take to fulfill their dreams and to give them ground to make their dreams come true.

We also encourage the students to continue dreaming big and we will support their continuous development.

When we read the students’ DREAM BIG dreams, we noticed that many of them shared vocational and professional goals in certain fields, for example, health and engineering.  As a follow-up, and to provide them with role models for these dreams, we are inviting    professionals from different fields to visit the school and talk with the students about how they achieved their work goals and also to teach some concept that they use in their profession.     Our aim is to invite one visiting speaker each month.  We will report on those visits here.
